Store Assistant (Night Fill)

Start in retail here: a hardware and building store in Umlazi trains packers who show up and work neat. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Umlazi-based, with most of your time spent at a hardware and building store. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Visit several stores on a merchandising route and send photos of shelves
• Unpack deliveries in the receiving area and sort by aisle
• Weigh, bag and price fruit and vegetables
• Pack shelves from the back, rotating older stock to the front (first in, first out)
• Help customers find products and carry heavy items to cars

• Grade 10 or matric
• Available for weekends, month-end and public holidays
• Neat appearance and punctual
• Polite with customers and happy to help
• Honest, since stock losses are checked closely

• Being 18 or older for liquor store roles
• Some till or cash-handling experience
• Previous shelf packing or merchandising work

• Chance to move into till or department roles
• Staff discount on groceries
• Travel allowance on merchandising routes
• Paid training in store procedures
