Job Description

Clean water, safe roads and sound structures start with a good engineer at the bulk water utility in Burgersfort. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Burgersfort-based, with most of your time spent at a bulk water utility. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Write design reports and handover documents
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures

What you need

Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate

Helpful, not essential

Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
Contract management training for NEC or GCC
