Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the municipal infrastructure department in Kuruman needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a municipal infrastructure department in Kuruman. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts

You'll need

At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
