Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the structural design practice in Rustenburg needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Rustenburg-based, with most of your time spent at a structural design practice.

What your day looks like

Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Write design reports and handover documents
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162

You'll need

Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
