Job Description

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the bulk water utility in Vanderbijlpark. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a bulk water utility on the Vanderbijlpark side of Gauteng. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Design water pipelines, sewers and stormwater systems with hydraulic software
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue

Must-haves

BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate

Extra points for

Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
Registration with SAICE and active CPD
