Job Description

You'll answer alarms across a farming district in Pietermaritzburg in a marked vehicle, armed and ready. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Pietermaritzburg-based, with most of your time spent at a farming district.

What your day looks like

Do vehicle checks: tyres, fuel, lights and siren
Drive the response vehicle safely at speed to client addresses
Give first aid at an incident until paramedics take over
Secure a scene until SAPS arrives and hand over details
Respond to alarm and panic signals sent by the control room

Must-haves

PSIRA Grade B or C with an armed response course
At least 2 years in guarding or response
Clean criminal record and no pending cases
SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)

Helpful, not essential

SAPS, SANDF or reservist background
Knowledge of the local streets and sectors
Advanced driving course
