Job Description

An import and export trading house in Richards Bay needs a tax practitioner who knows eFiling inside out. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Keep client tax files complete for five years
Check SARS assessments and flag errors to clients
Draft objections and appeals with supporting schedules
Track filing season deadlines and send reminders to clients
Prepare VAT201 returns and review input tax claims
Advise on deductions such as retirement contributions and home office claims

You'll need

Neat, careful and organised with client documents
At least 2 years of SARS eFiling experience
Clear writing for SARS letters and objections
Comfortable handling tax season overtime
Degree or diploma in accounting or tax

Extra points for

Experience with trusts, estates and capital gains tax
Postgraduate diploma in tax
