Tiler (Floors & Wet Areas)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the residential renovation company in Klerksdorp. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a residential renovation company in Klerksdorp. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
• Wear your hard hat, boots and harness wherever the foreman says
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats

• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements

• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Transport from a pick-up point to site

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
