Toolmaker (Press Tools & Moulds)

You'll keep machines turning and parts in spec at the beverage bottling plant in Roodepoort. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is in Roodepoort (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

• Align shafts with a laser alignment tool after every drive change
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors
• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds
• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS

• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop

• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses
• Millwright trade test, since it covers both mechanical and electrical
• CNC programming experience

• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Paid overtime on shutdowns
• Shift and standby allowances
• Tool allowance

• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
