Job Description

Sharp eyes and a calm voice are the tools of the trade at an armed response control room in Roodepoort. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The site is in Roodepoort; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
Log every event and action on the monitoring software
Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement

You'll need

No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
Computer literate and quick on a keyboard

Nice if you have

Call centre work in the past
CCTV operator short course
