Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a distribution depot in George. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is George-based, with most of your time spent at a distribution depot. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries

• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Good with Excel and email

• Previous truck driving experience
• Logistics or supply chain certificate
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
