Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet)

Get off the road and into the control office at a courier operations centre in Sandton. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a courier operations centre on the Sandton side of Gauteng. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Update customers on delivery times and delays

• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Good with Excel and email
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Matric
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics

• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Previous truck driving experience

• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
