Transport Controller (Long Haul Fleet)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a bus and coach operator in Vanderbijlpark, that could be you. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Vanderbijlpark-based, with most of your time spent at a bus and coach operator. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

• Matric
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Good with Excel and email
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Growth to transport manager

• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
