VAT Specialist (Import and Export)

Clients sleep better when their tax is sorted, and a mid-tier accounting firm in Bethlehem needs you to sort it. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Bethlehem-based, with most of your time spent at a mid-tier accounting firm. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Advise on deductions such as retirement contributions and home office claims
• Calculate IRP6 provisional tax for individuals and companies
• Track filing season deadlines and send reminders to clients
• Prepare VAT201 returns and review input tax claims
• Check SARS assessments and flag errors to clients

• Clear writing for SARS letters and objections
• Registered tax practitioner with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA
• At least 2 years of SARS eFiling experience
• Neat, careful and organised with client documents
• Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and VAT Act

• Postgraduate diploma in tax
• Experience with trusts, estates and capital gains tax

• Paid controlling body subscription
• CPD hours paid by the firm
• Flexible hours outside filing season
