Voice-Picking Warehouse Assistant – Permanent

Every order that leaves this clothing distribution centre in Mthatha passes through your hands first. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

This post is in Mthatha (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Count stock during weekly cycle counts and month-end stock takes
• Wear thermal gear and rotate in and out of freezer zones on schedule
• Unpack returned parcels and sort them into resell or write-off
• Stack finished orders on pallets and stretch-wrap them tight
• Pack cartons, add fillers and seal them with tape guns
• Keep aisles clear of plastic, cardboard and loose pallets

• Clean criminal record (most warehouses run a check)
• South African ID or a valid work permit
• You're fit enough to lift boxes up to 25kg all shift
• You can read product codes and count accurately
• Willing to wear safety boots, a reflector vest and gloves
• Punctual, with reliable transport home after late shifts

• Previous picking experience with a handheld RF scanner
• Experience in a cold-chain or freezer environment

• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays
• Safety boots, overalls and freezer jackets supplied

• If you have done any stock counts, packing or even shelf work before, list it first. It shows you already know how to handle stock.
• Arrive for the interview in closed shoes. Some warehouses walk you through the floor straight away.
