Waiter / Waitress (Evening Shift)

This is a floor job at a beachfront cocktail bar in Kariega where your tips follow your service. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a beachfront cocktail bar in Kariega. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.
• Pull espresso shots and steam milk for flat whites and cappuccinos.
• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Clear, wipe and reset tables fast during the Friday and Sunday rush.
• Refuse service to anyone under 18 or visibly drunk, as the Liquor Act requires.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.

• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus

• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• Wine knowledge from a WSET Level 1 or wine farm stint

• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Staff meal on every shift
• Paid menu and wine tastings so you can sell with confidence

• Recruiters ask about a difficult table, so have one real story ready about how you turned it around.
• Put the names of the restaurants you worked at and your average covers per shift at the top of your CV.
