Warehouse General Hand (Day Shift)

This is steady, physical warehouse work at a building-supplies depot in Richards Bay, and nobody minds if it's your first job. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Richards Bay (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Label boxes with the correct waybill and route sticker
• Move pallets with a hand pallet jack to the dispatch lane
• Stack finished orders on pallets and stretch-wrap them tight
• Keep aisles clear of plastic, cardboard and loose pallets
• Replenish empty pick faces from overstock racking
• Report damaged, short or expired items to the shift supervisor
• Unpack returned parcels and sort them into resell or write-off

• Punctual, with reliable transport home after late shifts
• You're fit enough to lift boxes up to 25kg all shift
• South African ID or a valid work permit
• Happy to work shifts, weekends and public holidays in peak season
• You can read product codes and count accurately

• Experience in a cold-chain or freezer environment
• Living within walking or taxi distance of the warehouse
• A valid forklift or reach truck certificate

• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays
• Permanent appointment for reliable temps after peak season
• Chance to be trained on forklift after probation
• Staff canteen with subsidised meals

• Say clearly that you can work nights and weekends. Peak-season hiring goes to people who are available.
• Arrive for the interview in closed shoes. Some warehouses walk you through the floor straight away.
