Warehouse Packer (Seasonal Peak)

Pick it right, pack it neat, send it out: that's the job at a frozen-food distribution centre in Newcastle. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a frozen-food distribution centre in Newcastle. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Replenish empty pick faces from overstock racking
• Report damaged, short or expired items to the shift supervisor
• Keep aisles clear of plastic, cardboard and loose pallets
• Scan every item so the system shows the right stock count
• Label boxes with the correct waybill and route sticker

• Grade 10 or higher; matric preferred
• Happy to work shifts, weekends and public holidays in peak season
• Clean criminal record (most warehouses run a check)
• You can read product codes and count accurately

• Experience in a cold-chain or freezer environment
• Previous picking experience with a handheld RF scanner
• Basic computer skills for capturing counts

• Chance to be trained on forklift after probation
• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays
• Permanent appointment for reliable temps after peak season

• Say clearly that you can work nights and weekends. Peak-season hiring goes to people who are available.
• Arrive for the interview in closed shoes. Some warehouses walk you through the floor straight away.
