Workshop Controller (Service Department)

You'll be the link between customers and the workshop at the multi-brand service centre in Germiston. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is in Germiston (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Submit warranty claims with photos and technician reports
• Look up part numbers in the electronic parts catalogue using the VIN
• Phone customers with extra work found and get approval in writing
• Open job cards and explain the work and cost before it starts
• Order stock and special parts, and follow up on back orders

• Matric, plus a motor industry background
• Calm and polite with customers, even when they are upset
• Code 08 licence
• Good working knowledge of car parts and basic vehicle systems
• At least 2 years as a service advisor, parts interpreter or in a similar counter role
• Accurate when capturing part numbers and prices

• Paid brand training
• Monthly CSI bonus for customer ratings
• Commission on parts sales or workshop turnover
• Company uniform

• For parts jobs, say how quickly you can find a part using the VIN. Some interviews include a quick lookup test.
• If your customer satisfaction scores were good, give the score. It is the number dealers watch most.
