Access Control Officer (Grade C) – Fixed-Term

Residents and staff at an industrial park in Mthatha need to feel safe when they arrive; that is your job. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Mthatha. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• Physically fit for foot patrols
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• Speaks and writes basic English
• Alert, polite and firm with the public

• Firefighting or evacuation training
• Experience on estate access apps or biometric readers
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols

• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Provident fund contributions
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Stable long-term site contracts

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
