Off-Site Video Monitoring Operator – Experienced

From a chair in a shopping mall security office in Komani, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll report in Komani. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them

• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• Matric
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• CCTV operator short course

• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Training on the monitoring software
• Path to senior controller or supervisor

• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
