Access Control Officer (Grade C)

Steady 12-hour shifts at an office tower in Sandton for PSIRA-registered officers. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Sandton; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty

• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date

• Provident fund contributions
• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued

• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
