Security Dispatcher (Armed Response) – Entry Level

Sharp eyes and a calm voice are the tools of the trade at a remote video monitoring centre in Isando. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a remote video monitoring centre on the Isando side of Gauteng. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date

• Good memory for sites, streets and procedures
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• Matric
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• Speaking more than one local language
• CCTV operator short course

• Shift allowance for nights
• Training on the monitoring software
• Path to senior controller or supervisor

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
