Job Description

You'll keep the books clean and up to date for a construction contractor in Ballito. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

Home base is a construction contractor on the Ballito side of KwaZulu-Natal. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

Match orders, delivery notes and invoices before a payment goes out
Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
Prepare VAT201 workings for the accountant to submit on SARS eFiling
Run petty cash and file slips with proper supporting documents
Capture supplier invoices and customer receipts on Sage or Xero
Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days
Load supplier payments on internet banking for authorisation

Must-haves

Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
Understanding of VAT input and output rules
Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details

Helpful, not essential

Experience with inventory costing in a trading business
Knowledge of Sage Evolution or QuickBooks
