Alarm Monitoring Controller (Night Shift)

Sharp eyes and a calm voice are the tools of the trade at an armed response control room in Sandton. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Sandton-based, with most of your time spent at an armed response control room.

• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Track stolen vehicles on the map and guide recovery teams
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations

• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone

• Speaking more than one local language
• Call centre work in the past
• CCTV operator short course

• Shift allowance for nights
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
