Apprentice Motor Mechanic (merSETA) – Immediate Start

Fix it right the first time: that is the job at this fast-fit tyre and service centre in Pretoria East. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll report in Pretoria East. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Replace clutches, brake pads, discs, shocks and timing belts
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign

• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Your own basic toolbox
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams

• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Tool allowance or tool insurance
