Job Description

Collections at a municipal accounts office in Tembisa is about firm, fair conversations and steady numbers. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is a municipal accounts office on the Tembisa side of Gauteng.

What you'll actually do

Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
Hand accounts over for legal action once internal steps are exhausted.
Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.

What you need

Matric
Clear credit and criminal record
Target-driven and comfortable with commission
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations
Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre

Extra points for

Knowledge of the NCA and prescription rules
Legal collections or attorney-firm background
Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
