Assistant Accountant (Audit Firm Client Services)

A logistics company in Somerset West needs an accountant who can close fast and explain the variances. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Somerset West, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary

• At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience
• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree

• Hybrid schedule outside month-end week
