Job Description

Machines set the pace at this industrial bakery in Newcastle; you keep up and catch the faults. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Newcastle (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What you'll actually do

  • Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
  • Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
  • Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
  • Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
  • Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
  • Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley

You'll need

  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • Available for rotating day and night shifts
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
