Job Description

Machines set the pace at this soft drink bottling plant in Umlazi; you keep up and catch the faults. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

The work is in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What you'll actually do

Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines

What you need

Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
Available for rotating day and night shifts

Nice if you have

A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
