Bakery Production Hand (Early Shift)

Machines set the pace at this plastic moulding plant in Richards Bay; you keep up and catch the faults. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a plastic moulding plant in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line

• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Available for rotating day and night shifts

• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
• Some basic first-aid training

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Company transport on some night shifts

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
