Bakery Production Hand (Early Shift) – Fixed-Term

Here in Soweto, a meat processing plant needs steady people who can repeat a task well for eight hours. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at a meat processing plant. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones

• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Path to machine operator after six months

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
