Job Description

Strong, willing hands are wanted on a low-cost housing development in Atlantis. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Atlantis-based, with most of your time spent at a low-cost housing development. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
Clear rubble and load it into skips
Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor

Must-haves

Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Willing to start early, often at 06:30
Grade 8 or higher

Helpful, not essential

Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
