Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at a fintech start-up in Pinetown. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a fintech start-up on the Pinetown side of KwaZulu-Natal. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What your day looks like

Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries

What you need

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Experience writing automated tests
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Extra points for

Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Docker and Kubernetes experience
