Candidate Electrical Engineer (ECSA)

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The solar and battery project developer in Mbombela needs you to make it so. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a solar and battery project developer in Mbombela. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
• Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2

• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
• Protection or HV operating authorisation

• Flexible hours on design days
• Vehicle allowance for site work
• Clear path to associate or senior engineer

• List projects with their voltage level, size in kVA or MW, and whether you designed, supervised or commissioned.
