Maintenance Technician (Electro-Mechanical) – Experienced

The cement plant in Ermelo needs an artisan who can fix a breakdown fast and machine a part when needed. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a cement plant on the Ermelo side of Mpumalanga. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production lines
• Follow the lockout procedure before any work on machinery
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors

• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations

• CNC programming experience
• Food safety awareness for food and drink plants
• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses

• Shift and standby allowances
• Tool allowance
• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Paid overtime on shutdowns

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
