Job Description

This petrochemical plant in Vanderbijlpark needs a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the design office. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The site is in Vanderbijlpark; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Manage shutdowns: planning, spares, contractors and safe restart
Sign off modifications and keep drawings and records current
Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend
Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor
Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners
Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347

Must-haves

Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting
Code 08 licence for site visits
Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations

Helpful, not essential

Finite element analysis skills
Reliability or asset management certification
