Job Description

Clean water, safe roads and sound structures start with a good engineer at the road agency project office in Springs. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a road agency project office in Springs. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Check drawings from technicians and sign them for issue
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162

What you need

Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors

Nice if you have

Contract management training for NEC or GCC
Registration with SAICE and active CPD
