Job Description

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this electrical consulting engineering firm in Springs needs a sharp electrical engineer. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at an electrical consulting engineering firm in Springs. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

Must-haves

At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Extra points for

Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
PLC programming certification
