Candidate Quantity Surveyor – Immediate Start

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Paarl. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The work is in Paarl, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early

• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying

• SACQSP registration as a Professional or Candidate QS
• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard

• Travel allowance for site visits
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Hybrid days in the office and on site

• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
