Cashbook and Recon Clerk – Experienced

A small accounting practice in Kempton Park needs a bookkeeper who closes the month on time, every month. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is in Kempton Park (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Post month-end journals for accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Reconcile creditors statements and sort out differences with suppliers
• Update customer credit limits and put accounts on hold when needed
• Reconcile bank accounts daily and clear unallocated items
• Send customer statements and phone accounts that are over 60 days

• Accurate with figures and careful with supplier bank details
• Practical skill in Sage Pastel, Sage Business Cloud or Xero
• Good with Excel: VLOOKUP, pivot tables and simple formulas
• Matric with Accounting
• Bookkeeping certificate or diploma (ICB, FASSET learnership or similar)
• Understanding of VAT input and output rules

• Registered with SAIPA or the ICB as a bookkeeper
• Experience with inventory costing in a trading business
• Experience with debt collection letters and handover to attorneys

• Office hours with no weekend work
• Paid study leave for bookkeeping exams
• Hybrid work after probation at some practices
• Thirteenth cheque at many small firms

• Recruiters often give a short Excel or recon test, so practise a bank recon before the interview.
• Name the accounting packages you use daily in your CV headline, such as "Sage Pastel Partner, Xero, Excel".
