Job Description

Hard outdoor work on a school building project in Pretoria East, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll report in Pretoria East. Relocation is not covered for this one. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

Clear rubble and load it into skips
Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day

What you need

Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Grade 8 or higher
You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Willing to start early, often at 06:30

Nice if you have

A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
