Job Description

Passengers in Cape Town CBD trust a staff transport contractor to get them there safely, and that trust is on your shoulders. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Cape Town CBD, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What your day looks like

  • Check passenger tickets, tags or staff cards when boarding
  • Follow speed limits strictly; buses are tracked
  • Inspect the bus before each trip: tyres, brakes, doors, emergency exits
  • Give tourists a friendly welcome and help with luggage on charters
  • Keep the bus clean inside and report any damage
  • Drive fixed routes and keep to the timetable
  • Write the trip log with times, kilometres and fuel

What you need

  • At least 3 years of bus or taxi driving
  • Punctual for very early starts
  • Medically fit
  • Patient and friendly with passengers

Nice if you have

  • First-aid certificate
  • Fluent in more than one language

What you get

  • Paid passenger PrDP renewal
  • Tips and trip allowances on tour charters
  • Company uniform

Applying, step by step

  1. Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
  2. Get these ready, because shortlisted people are asked for them straight away: medical certificate if you have a recent one, references from previous bus or taxi work plus licence card and passenger PrDP.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 7 working days, usually by phone.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
  • Talk about safety records in the interview. Bus companies want to hear about zero accidents and on-time runs.
