Job Description

The road is your office with a long-haul freight fleet based in Bellville, and the load gets there because of you. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is in Bellville (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

What you'll actually do

Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads

What you need

Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Clean criminal record
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Passport for cross-border routes
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time

Helpful, not essential

Dangerous goods training certificate
Defensive driving course
Knowledge of SADC border routes
