Job Description

The road is your office with a coal haulage contractor based in Secunda, and the load gets there because of you. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Secunda (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
Check the load is secured, strapped or sealed before leaving the depot
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately

What you need

Medically fit, including eyesight
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
Clean criminal record

Extra points for

Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
Knowledge of SADC border routes
