Job Description

Long hours, clean record, safe arrival every time: that is what a coal haulage contractor in Secunda pays for. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a coal haulage contractor in Secunda. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

The work, day to day

Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
Report breakdowns, delays and incidents to the controller immediately
Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped

You'll need

Medically fit, including eyesight
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
Clean driving record with no serious accidents
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks

Extra points for

Knowledge of SADC border routes
Dangerous goods training certificate
Experience on a specific trailer type (tanker, tipper, reefer)
