Job Description

The road is your office with a fuel distribution fleet based in Randburg, and the load gets there because of you. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The site is in Randburg; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Log driving hours and take the required rest breaks
Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
Complete border paperwork at Beitbridge, Lebombo or other posts
Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped
Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
Drive planned routes and stop only at approved truck stops
Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids

Must-haves

Clean criminal record
Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks
Medically fit, including eyesight
Valid PrDP (G for goods, D for dangerous goods on tankers)

Helpful, not essential

Clean record on a telematics driving score
Knowledge of SADC border routes
