Code 14 Tautliner Driver (Long Distance)

You'll move heavy loads between Welkom and depots across the country for a long-haul freight fleet. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

Home base is a long-haul freight fleet on the Welkom side of Free State. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Check reefer temperatures and record them on cold-chain loads
• Carry out fuel stops with the fuel card and keep the slips
• Do a full pre-trip inspection: tyres, brakes, lights, couplings and fluids
• Keep the logbook and tachograph or telematics records up to date
• Keep the cab clean and report defects at the end of each trip
• Follow hazchem rules, placards and emergency procedures on tanker loads
• Deliver to customers and get proof-of-delivery signed and stamped

• Able to be away from home for several nights at a time
• Passport for cross-border routes
• Clean criminal record
• Medically fit, including eyesight
• Valid Code 14 (EC) licence
• At least 3 years on Code 14 trucks

• Defensive driving course
• Dangerous goods training certificate

• Well-maintained trucks with sleeper cabs

• Expect a driving test with a real truck. Arrive rested and do your pre-trip check out loud so the assessor sees it.
• Be honest about accidents or fines. Companies check your driving record anyway and trust drivers who tell them upfront.
