Coded Welder (Pressure Vessels) – Permanent

Strong welding and plate work for the trailer and truck body builder in Montague Gardens, with real drawings and real tolerances. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll report in Montague Gardens. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
• Sign off your weld map and traceability sheets for each spool
• Read fabrication drawings and cutting lists before you mark out plate
• Cut and bevel plate with oxy-fuel, plasma and a bevelling machine
• Weld carbon steel pipe in the 6G position using GTAW root and SMAW fill
• Keep a hot work permit open and a fire watch in place during shutdowns

• At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying
• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification
• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one
• Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
• You can read fabrication and isometric drawings without help

• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns

• List each coding separately with the standard, process, position and expiry date. "Coded welder" on its own tells a recruiter nothing.
• Expect a practical welding test on the first day. Bring your own gloves and chipping hammer so you feel at home.
