Collections Team Leader – Entry Level

This municipal accounts office in Rustenburg needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: Rustenburg, North West. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
• Track broken promises-to-pay and follow up within 48 hours.
• Dial through your arrears book on the auto-dialler and confirm the debtor's identity.
• Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
• Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.
• Update debtor contact details from tracing searches.

• Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
• Clear credit and criminal record
• Matric
• At least 6 months in collections, sales or a call centre

• Legal collections or attorney-firm background
• A second South African language
• Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform

• Monthly incentives for the top three collectors
• Council for Debt Collectors registration paid for you
• Structured weekday hours with only occasional Saturdays

• Interviewers often role-play a difficult debtor; stay polite, get a date and an amount, and close the call.
